• CurrDocDate field value

By Valentina Mukhamedzhanova 2 decades ago

    Dear developers,

I started testing Vacation Request application and faced a problem. I get an error message when trying to add a new company holiday:

    —————————

    IBM Lotus Notes

    —————————

Field: 'CurrDocDate': Incorrect data type for operator or @Function: Time/Date expected

    —————————

    OK

    —————————

I deleted this formula from CurrDocDate field:

    @Date(@Year(AllHolidays); @Month(AllHolidays); @Day(AllHolidays); 12; 0; 0)

and replaced it with the following:

    AllHolidays

Now it's working fine, and CurrDocDate value seems to be the same as in predefined holiday documents.

So I have a small question - will this change cause any problems in future? Is there any other way to fix the problem?

Thank you in advance for your answer, and thanks a lot for a brilliant application!

      Hi Valentina ,

Thanks for your interest in Vacatioin Request!

It seems that the Default formula (@Today) for AllHolidays has some how been omitted from release 2.2.7 even though it is in 2.2.6e. I will get out a point release ASAP.

The formula that you found sets the position on the calendar for the holiday to be at noon. Noon helps the holiday (as well as any leave) appear on the correct day in other timezones.

      Thanks Again,

      Bob

      • Import holidays

        Hi Bob,

I also think that importing holidays from the company address book would be a useful feature. What do you think?

        • Addressbook Holidays are Not Location Specific

By Bob Brodsky 2 decades ago

          Hi Valentina,

Thanks again for your interest in Vacation Request!

Vacation Request allows for location specific weekends and holidays. This flexibility allows different physical or logical locations in the same country or city to have different policies regarding time off.

So, for example, you could have a X helpdesk operating in the same building as other employees in your organization. These helpdesk agents might not get any automatic holidays or weekend days off (all time off would need to be requested & approved) while other employees automatically get legal holidays, Saturdays and Sundays off.

Since the addressbook holidays are not location specific then importing them would be problematic. Also, entering all holidays for a location in a given year is not too painful (at least for me). Once entered you can copy/paste them (for a subsequent year) and then just update the years and dates as needed.

          HTH,

          Bob
