Intrapages - The Social Intranet - Feature Request: Logging in using Active Directory via LDAP

We use Declan Lynch's 'Large File Sender' utility and have modified it to authenticate with our Corporate Microsoft Active Directory which is available to the server as a port 389 LDAP source. See: https://mcs-notes2.open.ac.uk/filesender-ou.nsf

It turned out to be quite easy to do this and if it could be added to this template it would suddenly become a word-beater in places which use Microsoft authentication as well as Domino. The challenge is to get superb apps like this into strong circulation in Microsoft shops as well as Domino ones.

It was just a matter of using the Active Directory user credentials supplied by the user in the login challenge screen to start an LDAP query 'behind the scenes' and then open the application using that as the account. NB - this approach meant that we did not need to use Directory Assistance.

As a bonus, at the time of logging in, we can collect current and salient 'personal' information (default email address, phone number, location, title etc) from the LDAP source and use these in the application. In our case we used these details to popuate a signature block on the email generated by using the Large File Sender when sending a notification that a file had been uploaded for collection.

Happy to share the code for this offline if you like.

You can use the rich text editor for rich text formating. You can also enter HTML to embed objects, e.g. to embed a YouTube video or a screenshot of the project. In this case use '[' and ']' to mark the passthrough HTML as such.

Please note that the first time you use the new UI your description is converted from rich text to MIME. You might want to copy and paste the raw plain text from the old UI in the new UI so that you don't loose information.
