OpenNTF Mail Template - Feature Request: Dynamically create a hotspot to a file on a share

Creating hotspots are pretty easy, but they have their limits and drawbacks. Alot of my customers have asked for the possibility to link to files in their email, on a remote share, as in:

\\servername\directory\filename.doc

This is "possible", by creating a URL hotspot and giving it the value:

file://servername/directory/filename.doc

Well, have you tried telling your customers how to create a hotspot like this? They don't understand a **** and will rather send a copy of the document itself to all of their collegues, which again have its typical and obvious drawbacks.

What I did for one of my customers was to add a button in the mailtemplate, "Add file link", which gives them a file browser window, letting them point to the file, on the server or whereever, and then the hotspot is created. This uses a API call, but it works smoothly and the customer are really satsified. It's all about doing the exact same thing as explain earlier, by seleting the "create, hotspot...", but doing it more user-friendly for the average user.

Hope we can find a way to include this in our template. What you think?

You can use the rich text editor for rich text formating. You can also enter HTML to embed objects, e.g. to embed a YouTube video or a screenshot of the project. In this case use '[' and ']' to mark the passthrough HTML as such.

Please note that the first time you use the new UI your description is converted from rich text to MIME. You might want to copy and paste the raw plain text from the old UI in the new UI so that you don't loose information.
