    Hi there…

Just getting started with this domBulletin experiment. I had been mulling over whether to go with phpBB or this, but alas my Domino development experience completely outweighed my experiences with php, so here I am!

I thought a little wishlist of my own might help. I see others have some similar suggestions, so I´ve left out those I´ve seen elsewhere. Overall, I´m thrilled with my choice. Up and running in what, 5 minutes? Can´t complain about that at all! Very nice work so far, very usable and intuitive interface. Having said that, here´s what I´d like to see.

    • Ability to support "private" discussions easily. IE, if five people want to have their own category. I guess this could be done by having separate db´s and setting up the ACL, but this would be an admin function. Would be good if the five people could set this up on their own? And not be visible anywhere else? I deal with businesses, and want to use this to encourage business to have little forums of their own with their partners, not visible to the rest of the user community.

    • A fancier avatar system. In a perfect world, this would provide the equivalent of a little character editor (anybody remember those litlte stortroopers? Pick the hair color, the body, pants, shirt, boots etc. and voila! A little avatar mini-me). In the absence of that, maybe a link to an equivalent avatar generator?

    • A statistics page of some sorts. An overall graph (or simple table) to show posting activities across the different categories over a period of time.

    • A posting activity level. I want to "reward" those who post messages somehow. So i need a way to determine how many posts each user has made in a given period, say how many posts in a particular month.

    • Subsets of the main categories. I know there is a subcategory thing there, maybe I have to explore that a bit more. Idea being that for certain users, there may be 10-20 categories that are applicable to them. A different user might have a different set of 10-20 categories of interest. Maybe that´s the point of the subcategories? Seems there might be a simpler way. Maybe I can create different views, with for example, categories with order#100-199 in one view, and order#200-299 in a different view? They are already grouped that way, just that I´d like to not have to show them all at one time.

    • I didn´t see it anywhere, but is it possible to post links into the comments? If not, this seems to be an important omission????

      Any thoughts?

      Andrew.
