• Notes 6.5.1 + MailScan + Dr.Web

By Michael Hammann 2 decades ago

I'm new with Notes and MailScan.

Now I tried to configure Notes and MailScan to connect Dr.Web. But I have some questions (i. e. to the Docs):

    • What is "ServerTasks=….,mailscan"? (I mean the dots!)
    • In my "notes.ini" there is just an entry EXTMGR_ADDINS. What shall I do!?
    • What is "ACL"?
    • Which parameters for DR.Web I'm needing to configurate the database?
    • Does Dr.Web scan "directory" or "file"?
    • Which are the right return codes for Dr.Web?
    • How can I test MailScan?

Many thanks for any helpful answer!

Hi, let me try to answer your questions:

      • What is "ServerTasks=….,mailscan"? (I mean the dots!)

A Placeholder for other tasks (like update, replica, router)

      • In my "notes.ini" there is just an entry EXTMGR_ADDINS. What shall I do!?

Add it to this line separated with a colon (",")

      • What is "ACL"?

        Access Control List.

      • Which parameters for DR.Web I'm needing to configurate the database?

you need the drweb command line scanner (on windows drwebwcl)

        start it with

        drwebwcl/?

and you will see a lot of parameters

        I will use

        /ARN/GO/HA/NM/SD-/UPN/WA-

      • Does Dr.Web scan "directory" or "file"?

        Use "file"

      • Which are the right return codes for Dr.Web?

see here for reference http://www.openntf.org/Projects/pmt.nsf/66d9103768cc2fed85256c59006b5433/9a1e9631766d746e86256e3700216f03!OpenDocument :

0 - OK, no virus found

        1 - known virus detected

2 - modification of known virus detected

        4 - suspicious object found

8 - known virus detected in archive

16 - modification of known virus detected in archive

32 - suspicious file found in archive

64 - at least one virus successfully cured

      • How can I test MailScan?

use the eicar testvirus. you find it at www.eicar.org

Many thanks for any helpful answer!

        Hello,

thank you for your answer. I will try it soon…

…after the answer to following another, maybe a "dumb", question: Does "MailScan" run on a standalone "Notes Client 6.5.2"?

        Regards,

        Michael.

        • No, only on a server.
