• Data from Excel Spreadsheet into AuthorAccess field

By Mark O'Keeffe 1 decade ago

    Hi David,

This is a great tool, and it is about to save my company a whole lot of time, I have just one problem that is stopping me in my tracks. The target database has an 'AuthorAccess' field. If I leave this field blank, then I can't access the entry once it is uploaded. If I put the correct name here, I still can't access. The field flags 'READ/WRITE-ACCESS NAMES' have not been added to the field.

Do you have any ieda if there is a way of adding these field flags as the data is uploaded from excel? It is currently set to SUMMARY, whisch is no good.

    • Compute with form

      Hello!

I have solved that problem by setting Compute with form-option to "Always". Setting is located in Advanced-

->Fields to Modify-Target Db –> Fields to modify on CREATE.

      Hope this helps.

      • Author Access

        Hi Olli,

Thanks for your response, I have tried it with 'compute with form' set to always however I'm still seeing the same results. Have you provided the AuthorAccess field as a cell in the spreadsheet? Or input it in a different way?

It would be really great if I am able to get this working, It's not looking so good at the moment :(

Also on a side note. Has anyone experienced any problems with numbers being lost in the transfer? I have several numeric fields that show blank in the database. I have tried setting these as text on the spreadsheet. I have also tried using the @text(); formula with no luck.
