• Trying to Make it International

By Bob Brodsky 2 decades ago

    Hi,

I have demo'ed your GREAT project to my company and they have asked me to customize it for our use. Any new versions?

First, I'll be adding a country code to the people and Holidays since we are International. Second, they want all types of reasons for not in the office: Business travel, Sick, Personal, Holiday, Vacation, … Third, they want lots of summary Reports/Views. No telling what's next once I get some of these done!

I'll post when I'm done; wish me luck!

    • International version

      Hi Bob,

We're international also but I'm using sperate dbs for each country. It would be great to unify them and I'm looking forward to seeing your code. Would you like to be added as a cook on the team?

My next job on the project is to web enable it because our international staff don't use LN.

      • I'd be Honored

        Gary,

Honored to be asked to "cook"

I've also been asked to expand the scope from Vacation to any reason for being out of the office. So, I'll be capturing some standard reasons. Further I'll try to develop some views so that an individual's history and plans can be viewed. My sponsor is not shy about asking for functionality and she is the BIG BOSS

        =:-O

        • How to become a cook

By Gary Cousins 2 decades ago

          Hi Bob,

          I was out of the office yesterday because of a bad cold. Anyway, OpenNTF have a rather complicated way to allow people to join a project;

I've created a task called International Version

          You logon to the site

Go to Tasks in Vacation Request

Click on the "International Version" task and then click the "Assign to Self" button.

          You're a cook!

Maybe you can send me your email address, mine is gcousins @ electricpaper . ie (leave out the gaps), so we can communicate faster.

I'm creating a web/browser version at the moment. I've got a cool web based address (names.nsf) picker from the Lotus Sandbox but unfortunatly it only works with IE - it uses window.showmodaldialog which is specific to MS \\ie and isn't a web standard. I'll get around it somehow maybe using DHTML. I've also got Stan Roger's Javascript calendar to work - it's way much better and nicer to look at than Lotus's web offering and is searchable. I'd like to add each counties public holidays to it depending on which country a person is viewing it from.
