VIC CRM for Notes - News: VIC CRM STATUS: I was hoping for a new interim release today, but it ain't gonna happen, sorry. The usual year-end pressures

VIC CRM STATUS:

I was hoping for a new interim release today, but it ain't gonna happen, sorry. The usual year-end pressures at work have taken precedence for the moment. HOWEVER, good progress is still being made on VIC CRM! Rob's done a lot of work on the back-end mail import agents, and I am making good time on the background document synchronization. I've tied the UI "Select Contact", etc. functionality into this, consolidating a boatload of agents into one script. Unfortunately, I had to break a lot of existing functionality in order to make it much, much better.

You'll get a LOT of benefit from the new synchronization routines if you need to customize VIC for your company or for a particular client. They are data-driven so you'll be able to add custom fields to the fieldmap documents in the config db and inherit them to related docs with little or no additional code. I think you'll like the changes.

Meanwhile, Rob's new routine allows for control of the server-side agent from the global profile in VIC itself, which should make your CRM administrator very happy!

I'm still working on synchronization, and as I simply don't want to release something this important that's not quite ready, look for something next weekend.

We're still looking for a documentation writer, so if you are or know anyone who's interested in contributing to OSS, please consider this project. Otherwise you're likely to be stuck with whatever I cobble together in whatever time I have!

In this field you can enter the actual news.

You can use the rich text editor for rich text formating. You can also enter HTML to embed objects, e.g. to embed a YouTube video or a screenshot of the project. In this case use '[' and ']' to mark the passthrough HTML as such.

Please note that the first time you use the new UI your description is converted from rich text to MIME. You might want to copy and paste the raw plain text from the old UI in the new UI so that you don't loose information.
