I cannot believe you guys are talking about UI etc in this context and XML hasn't come up. All it really needs is for the C/C++ guy to write a peeked-structure to XML engine, and then whoever wants an API/Skin system can roll one; as soon as the schema is clear, these can go ahead without waiting one for the other.
And everyone with lumps n bruises from Notes dev can think up/review/refine the schema.
