• Business Card Component

By Stijn Vermeulen 2 decades ago

I have tested the components and they include some nice features.

The best one (in my opinion) is not working properly on my pc. The business card component which connects to sametime to retrieve personal information doesn't seem to retrieve this data properly.

I tried the username and e-mail address but it keeps saying: User is Offline.

It does retrieve the common name and organization and shows it in the getName field in the composite application.

Any ideas what could go wrong?

    Thanks in advance,

    Stijn

    • Same thing for me

I experience exactly the same thing. The person(s) I enter appear offline.

And at the same time I can see that they are online in the sametime sidebar widget.

Same thing with the Personal Info Component.

    • Some known problems

By Jo Grant 2 decades ago

      Stijn,

I'm very sorry for the long delay. This just fell off my plate. I apologize.

I've experienced problems myself with awareness displaying differently in my Notes mail inbox and in my Sametime sideshelf. But I'm often doing some very odd things with my client and didn't think they were general problems!

One known problem is that if you are not logged into Sametime there are times the component does not fail gracefully. The other known problem is that if you have chosen not to install the sametime sideshelf, the component does not load at all. The correct thing to do is isolate the Sametime dependencies in another optional plugin so that if you haven't installed it, the component still works, but without those features. I discovered this too late in the release cycle to go back and fix them.

Neither of these really explains exactly what is going on with the problem you are reporting. What version of Notes are you using? I only lightly tested it on the 8.5 beta that was available then.

You might try running with the OSGI console displayed. I print some debug messages there and they may say something obvious if I noted the right thing. To turn it on, shut down Notes. Edit the icon you launch it from (on Windows, there is probably something similar on Mac). Add " -RPARAMS -console" to the end of the command line. Relaunch Notes. If you see anything specific come up go ahead and post it here and I'll try to interpret it.

      Cheers,<br/>
        Jo
