• mail not seen in mailspam.nsf

By Allen Seifert 2 decades ago

I recently upgraded to kSpam 1.6 on Domino 7.02

I'm not seeing some mail in mailspam.nsf that was reported as "copied and deined" by kSpam. I read the discussion thread "Mail Disapears" and it seems to address my problem but I have some questions:

When I do a "show stat smtp.kspam" at the Domino console I get "SMTP.KSPAM no found in server statistics table". What can I do about that?

Also, I noticed that if I do a ctrl+a to select all messages in the "New" view of mailspam.nsf, the status reports many more messages selected (thousands) than what I can see. This makes me think that messages really are going into mailspam.nsf but that I just can't see them. Any thoughts?

You need to enable the kSpam stats to get the smtp.kspam stats.

There does seem to be a problem with mail not showing up in mailspam.nsf. Perhaps everyone who's got the problem can post their kSpam and Domino versions here so we can look at any correlations.

Also, if anyone gets the problem and has the Designer client, maybe they can look at why it's not showing up.

In fact, if you can zip the mailspam.nsf db down to a small size (only a few documents will be needed), perhaps I can take a look at it here; send it to kspam tomlyne com.

Well, it took me to further investigations - "not seeing" words.

And yes - all messages are in db but not seen by me.

The reasoun why is KS_RECIPIENTS flag with 'kSpamAdministrators' value - which

needs admins to be in the same named access group to be able to look tough

        c&d messages.

The question is if it's possible to change the name of 'kSpamAdministrators' field and group manualy to the nesessary one? Where it is done?

I found that if I open mailspam.nsf locally, I can see all the files. If I open it through a Notes server, messages are missing from the views. I'm going to inviestigate why. Perhaps permissions?

By John Q Parker 2 decades ago

I just tried using Full Access Administration, and opened the SPAM db. Wow - thousands of documents I was not seeing before. Lots are spam, but of course many are not.

I moved several to MailGood, then noticed that the user had still not received any documents. This is because they are in their mail file, but access is restricted by the reader field, KS_RECIPIENTS.

The field KS_RECIPIENTS is a reader field, and contains "kSpamAdministrators". I do not have this group - should everyone belong to it?

Is this a bug or should I simply add all users to kSpamAdministrators group? This is not in the docs anywhere I can see…

It sounds like KS_RECIPIENTS is turned on but kSpam isn't resolving the names of the users (I'll get to why in a minute).

You can turn off KS_RECIPIENTS if you don't need it; if you are the only one watching mailspam.nsf, you don't need to turn this on.

If your users are releasing messages themselves then it does need to be turned on to prevent a user seeing messages to other users.

If you need it, and kSpam isn't resolving the addresses, can you tell me if your users have the local part of their email address (the bit before the @) in the username field of their person documents?

You can also tell it's not resolving the names if you turn on debugging and there's a bunch of 12.1.X errors.

        • kSpamAdministrators group fixed it

Creating a kSpamAdministrators group as Alexander says fixed my problem with not seeing all the messages in the mailspam.nsf database.
