• Cant work out how to load in R8

By Graham Emmett 2 decades ago

I'm new to Nots having downloaded R8 as a trial. Wanted a nice CRM and VIC looked like it fits the bill. I can't seem to get it to work correctly, probably due to my novice ability.

I have successfully created the databases from the templates in a VIC directory under my Notes Data directory. I can edit the Global Database profile and add the entries. I hav ecreated an old style Workspace with each database icon.

However when I open a database I get an error message "You cannot add a directory to ypur workspace". I can click through and the database will then open. I can create a document but I get the same error message eah time I try to open a document. The documents are created OK.

I'm also confused about the 'Start' database template, I have assumed this creates the 'Launch' database?

And finally I can't find the My Activities page referred to in the documentation.

I guess I really need a local expert! Any help gratefully received.

Graham, I don't know what "local" is to you so it's a little challenging to recommend a local expert :)

Contact me directly and I'll schedule some time to help you out, though. "Local" for me is the East coast of the USA.

Thanks Dave. Apologies for my slow response, I've been travelling for a few days which is what I do for a living here in England. So I'm about 5 hours ahead of you. I'll email you on Monday to see if we can find a time to speak. Thanks again. Graham Emmett

        • R8

would be nice to know if you have the R8 Version up and running?

Or does VIC CRM runs on R7 only?

          • No R8 version yet.

The current version runs fine on R6.5 and R7 (which are used by everyone I've had to directly support so far), and I have not tested it on R8.

If there is a different, the only thing that should matter is the mail import, which should be fairly simple to adjust.

I am developing on R6.5. I have no plans to move my own systems forward until R8.5. (things have been moving a little too fast in the Lotus world to play constant catch-up.)

After installation and playing around with this nice tool I experience exactly the same behaviour using Notes 8.5 . Any documents on how to resolve? Thank you.
