• MS Excel on Web

By Matt Benway 1 decade ago

    It works in the client.

It works in Safari for Windows.

    Seems ok in Firefox.

I don't really care about those as all my users are required IE users…just mentioning it to let you know that the report is set up correctly…just a simple 7 column spreadsheet from a database on the same server and using one form with no additional parameters.

In IE6, when I click on "run report" or paste the Report URL into IE's address bar, I get a small window that pops up and disappears immediately accompanied by the "blip" sound you'd hear during a pop-up or Active X block.

I've tried to use Task Manager to see what is opening and closing, but it's too fast. Also, History only shows the Notes Reconn report page.

I've gone to the security settings, turned off all blockers and allowed everything through with the lowest level of security. Everything is enabled. But I still get the same problem.

    Any ideas?

Follow up to this question is:

Is there any way to write an agent to that will trigger the Excel report to run and mail it to someone (current logged-in user)?

This is something I do in script all the time, handcoding each title and column…the old school way.

    • What version of IE do you use?

By David Jeyachandran 1 decade ago

      Hi Matt,

We too use IE in our organisation. This has been tested and built on IE6 and Firefox 3. What version of IE do you use? My collegue James Harris has built this web function and I'll get his help with this one.

      • IE 6

By Matt Benway 1 decade ago

The problem is that in IE6, when you Run Report for an Excel spreadsheet, if you click "Open", it

opens a very small (100pixel x 100pixel) window, which is not resizable. Then, it closes

automatically. I have to tell the users to "Save" to their hard-drive and then open it. When they do

and then open the spreadsheet, the data is actually on the 2nd worksheet in their spreadsheet.

        • Need to investigate

By David Jeyachandran 1 decade ago

          Hi Matt,

I need to speak with James and we will investigate this one. That little popup window then is supposed to trigger the Excel spreadsheet I guess IE6 is your corporate browser version. We also use IE6 (and it works for us) so we should be able to get this working.
