• How about Admin-integration?

By Kenneth Axi 2 decades ago

How about integrate this tool with the administration process of new employees so that the process of usercreation is automated by the app? It could also add usermail-file, fix access (by adding user into the appropriate groups) etc.

Then, it could also monitor persons that are hired for a limited timeperiod and automatically remove the person from the PNAB and delete files etc…

Does this sound like a good idea, or is this beyond the scope of this application perhaps?

    • Good ideas but....

I think those pieces are a little beyond the scope of the application. For me, this is more of an HR application as opposed to an IT/Admin application.

The thing is. an application like you are describing is something that most IT departments desperately need. I am going to have to give this a little consideration before I make a final decision. Maybe this will lead to a new project, but there are so many admin tools out there already, I will have to do some serious searching to make sure this is something new.

      Still, my curiosity is piqued….

      • Sure there is admin-tools...

…but I have never seen an admin tool that is fully integrated with a HR tool so that the IT-department doesn't have to do a single click to create and remove persons from the PNAB etc.

There will be a lot of positive things to integrate the two tools:

        • There will be less misspelling of names since the name of the employee only have to be entered ONCE
        • The application can monitor and send reminders to the responsible persons when a persons contract in the company is about to expire.
        • Every boss and salesperson can have every employees CV at their fingertips so if a customer wants a job done they can directly search for the best employee to do the job
        • Since the IT-department isn't involved with the process of useradministration, they will have more time to do more qulified jobs and more preventive jobs

          and more…

But I also understand that to integrate the two tools, it will require a massive workload… so I can clearly unerstand why one should delimit the scope of the tool to only be a HR tool and nothing more…

I'm glad that the idea at least was interesting…!

          Ken-

There is definitely some validity to the arguments you make. I can definitely see where those issues might be something that would be worth solving, but I don't think that this app is where it should be. Instead, I would think that this app would be one part of a complete HR solution that could do every thing you want. I don't think that the information in this application would be open to everyone in the company, especially since there might be some not nice stuff written in the interview responses. However, I can definitely see this database feeding a security request database for generating all the accounts and computer requests necessary once a person has accepted an offer and a start date has been set.

I have a security request application or two in my toolbox. If I have time in the near future, maybe I will see what all I will need to do to get it working with this application. Until then, happy recruiting.
