The built-in functionality is too primitive. Most users do want to send OoO messages to internet addresses, but not mailing lists. The only option right now is to add the addresses of all the mailing lists to OoO exclusion list, but this is too much trouble for most users, so not many people use it. I would like to have an additional checkbox that says something like "Do not reply to internet messages where I'm not in to:, cc: or bcc: fields". You can also detect mailing list traffic by checking for "Precedence: bulk" or "Precedence: list" message headers, but not all list processors use these headers. Or maybe not have a checkbox at all, although I'd like to keep things configurable.
