• Consistent UI

By Mads Brenoe 2 decades ago

    Hi there,

Just had a brief look at the template and it seems as if there are many nice features. However the UI for the Productivity Extensions features is very inconsistent with the rest of the mailbox design.

    1) Buttons are images with icons.

    2) Dialogboxes have white backgrounds where those from the standard mailbox design is system color.

    3) The view action bar is very crowded (and wide). I'm running a monitor resolution of 1600x1200 and that's just enough for seeing all the actions. Most users have lees resolution and cannot see everything. I think it would be a good idea to group your features in one action group (i.e. GTD or Productivity).

Just one last thing - Is there a difference between the File action and the action Folder\Move to folder?

Looking forward to test the app a little more.

Mads Brenoe, thanks for your feedback. In fact just today I was wondering why nobody is saying anything !!

Am attempting to answer your queries:

      1) Buttons are images with icons.

-=KP=-: I have used the icons for two reasons:

      a. I wanted to maintain consistency with the GTD workflow. Refer to the workflow in the GTDfunctionalityforLotusNotes.doc. The idea was to keep those icons "on your face" to help you remember GTD workflow action. Trust me, many a times when I wondered what to do, those icons helped me decide. Not sure if it helped other users.

      b. I could not think of anything else to use. I have actually left an unassigned task for anyone who could create better icons. You game?

      2) Dialogboxes have white backgrounds where those from the standard mailbox design is system color.

-=KP=-: I am not sure which dialog boxes you are referring to. If you mean the modified Followup form, then its been copied from Mail Experience 1.6. No changes made by me. Would help if you could elaborate.

-=KP=-: Am sorry I did not understand you here. Do you mean you cannot see all columns in one screen? If yes, then its true. I have tried to retain important columns so that one can see it in 800x600 screen and can also scroll sideways to view other items. Once again not sure if thats exactly what you meant. Please elaborate.

Just one last thing - Is there a difference between the File action and the action Folder\Move to folder?

-=KP=-: You guessed right, there is NO difference. I kept it there for two reasons:

      a. As mentioned above, I wanted to maintain consistency with the GTD workflow. Refer to the workflow in the GTDfunctionalityforLotusNotes.doc. The idea was to keep those icons "on your face" to help you remember GTD workflow action. Trust me, many a times when I wondered what to do, those icons helped me decide. Not sure if it helped other users.

      b. I liked the icon

Looking forward to test the app a little more.

-=Kp=-: Looking forward for more feedback and help (if you are a Notes programmer, i.e.)

Thanks a ton for your feedback. Really appreciate it.

      Cheers,

      -=KoolPal=-
