    Hey Vince,

    We've been a heavy user of OpenNTF1.7b on 6.5.x.

We have a version 8 pilot server setup and we've got a few of our admin mailboxes on both the 6.5 and the 8 servers (set so that design doesn't replicate).

So far so great. The 8 OpenNTF1.7b template looks a bit better than the standard 8 template (even though IBM did a great job on the standard template).

The only real problem that I have encountered is that some of the messages that I've flagged in 6.5, don't show up the Follow Up view on the 8 mailbox. Some do, can't figure out why.

Additionally, we setup our 8 clients to automatically replicate the local contacts in names.nsf on the 8 client machine to the contacts view in the mailfile (new version 8 feature). If we previously manually synched the contacts from the 6.5 clients names.nsf to the contacts view in the 6.5 mail file, then duplicates were created when doing so after the client was upgraded to version 8.

For some reason, the 8 client uses a different document ID for the contact.

Example: machine A is 6.5.6. We manually synch 10 contacts from names.nsf to contacts view in the mail file.

machine A is upgraded to 8.0. We setup the 8 client to automatically replicate the contacts. This replicates the local 8 design names.nsf with the contacts view in the mailfile, but it creates duplicates instead of recognizing that the contacts are already there.

If Machine A is 6.5.6, and we synch the names with the contacts view in the mail file, then we setup Machine B, which is version 8 and has no contacts in the local names.nsf, and set it up to automatically replicate the contacts, then the contacts view from the mailfile is replicated down to names.nsf without problem.

I hope this feedback makes sense.

    • Regarding the replication of contacts...

… as you know ND6 does not replicate, but 'synchronizes' using address as key. Therefore the documentunid will be different and ND8 will not recognize them.

        Thanks for the response Vince.

I guess the fix is going to be to synch the 6.5 mail file with the PAB, then upgrade to 8.

Delete the contacts in the contacts view in the mail file, then setup the R8 replication. This will avert any duplicates.

        Thanks!!
