• Port to OS/400?

By James Redmond 2 decades ago

Saw that there's a task for a port to Linux, but an OS/400 port would be nice too.

Any OS/400 developers with Domino API experience out there who need a project then please contact me as I won't be able to do this, I have no OS/400 systems.

I have no skill in development, but maybe this info could help: beginning with OS/400 v5r1m0 (maybe before) there is PASE (Portable App Soft Environment) which allow unix apps to run on the box: as an example, IBM did not port DDNS BIND v 8.23 to OS/400 but allow the AIX version to run on the AS/400, leaving DNS not dynamic v 4 run on non PASE enabled machines.

If you give me some guidelines I could try to start something. I my mind, kSpam should run at server side, tell me if I'm wrong.

kSpam isn't a program on it's own, it's a dynamicly loaded library which the Domino server loads at startup. This solution you're suggesting looks like it uses emulation which wouldn't work unless you ran the entire Domino server in the "emulator".

Does anyone else know about OS/400?

I know very little, but the fact that the file structures are somewhat different. There is a Notes.INI file, so that is some good news.

I will take a look at the Domino setup and see what I can figure out for the DLLs.
