• EzThumbs - square images

By Mark Haller 2 decades ago

Just to let you know … I've made a request to Fookes Software, the writers of EzThumbs - to see how easy it would be to add a "CROP" option to the image resizing. I've produced a few albums using this DB and the EzThumbs implementation, and the thumbnails generated preserve the portrait or landscape proportions, and as such, are not consistent on a thumbnail page, and I think look a bit poor …. just my own opinion, but a nice option to give users, if Fookes will add this for us!

I'll let you know if/what they respond!

    Regards

    Marky

Hey Pascal (and Christian, and anyone else who wants to know!!)

I've got a reply from Fookes (after sending them a second, slightly, aherm stronger eMail!) …..

        Hi Mark,

I replied to your other message; must have got lost.

We offer cropping in our shareware; it won't be added to our freeware.

I'm sorry, but we do not have the resources to provide help for our freeware. We do have many YahooGroups discussion mailing lists that you can join for help. You can read about the different

discussion lists and sign up for them from below.

If you decide to buy some of our software in the future or try it out, please use my affiliate link to get back to our site. We have other freeware and shareware that you might like. All of it is very

useful in my opinion. More links further down… http://www.fookes.com/regnow.html?2448&item=home

        ————————————————————————

So I guess I can go and pay for the shareware, and then we can build into ONPD an option in the settings - if you have the shareware version, do you want to crop or just proportionally resize the image? :-)

I will get the shareware tomorrow morning, and try it out - maybe we can check for a reg entry or something in the LotusScript just to make sure the command line won't fail :-)

        • you seem to be too optimistic

I am not a friend of this solution as I am currently working on two other areas regarding importing and I may drop EZThumbnail completely. We have ImageMagik and a Java solution to choose from, but again, I am still evaluating these alternatives.

          • OK, good luck
