• Installation and first setup

By Janis Balodis 2 decades ago

    Hi!

I found a possibility to manage spam for Domino 6.5.x, downloaded 1.4b version files, followed setup directions. (Using LND 6.5.4 on W2K server SP4 partitioned Lotus Notes server with program directory and data directory not in default locations). First of all tried to check working using mail rules from kspamcon.nsf. (No Bayesian).

First of all, when I start up my server, there is no any signs of loading any additional addins. Notes.ini file contains record Extmgr_addins=spam but no other records connected with KS_…. I am using notes.ini file from partitioned server's data directory and loadin server using it. Mail rules does not have any impact on mail coming in.

Any help or idea on my problem would be appreciated. It seems to be something wrong with installation, but I doublechecked all helpnotes and this forum - nothing found yet. :(

I have the same problem, but on Linux… The Installation and configuration - how to's should be written more in detail.

Try to write "load kspam" into the console window, and see what happens. My kspam service starts, but i get a few errors (null buffer encountered, kerror create) now I'm trying to resolve this… good luck

Already tried. System says, that there is no kspam.exe file to load. The only task, what could be loaded, is nbload. I tried to load it. Got error messages. But still I prefer to move on slowly testing each step. So my idea is to start kSpam with rules and afterwards check other possibilities.

Did you copy it into a right folder? I'm not shure how it work on Win, but on Linux you should copy it to a folder where program scripts are …. I think that ../notesdata is not a right one…

There is no kspam.exe or nkspam.exe, the only executable is 'nbload.exe' for probability calculations. nspam.dll (or the linux equivalent) is an extension manager addin and should be added to the ExtMgr_Addin line in your notes.ini file.

          • The same problem

By Janis Balodis 2 decades ago

Yes, every thing is copied in corect folders, as it was written in help documentation. The only difference I have, is because of partitioned server, where I installed program files on other disk and specific directory, but not in c:\Lotus\Domino… The other is corect - dll and exe files in program directory, databases in data directory. Still no working and not giving any signs of problems. It feels, like there is not any kspam operations done at all.

To Tom: Yes, I understand, that there is no applications like kspam.exe, but I am trying to start this program on rules first of all, and afterwards start checking other posibilities. Could it be a problem on runing this soft for partitioned server or program files are somehow encoded to work on c:\lotus\domino directory?

Thanks, guys for your replies and hopefully we will find a solution.

If you just want to run with a static rule list you only need the Linux equivalent of nspam.dll and the notes.ini entry ExtMgr_Addins=spam

                Q1:

That's understood, except, I am using windows 2k server, so the files are correct. Recently my colleague tried kSpam on similar server, except Domino was single server (without partitions) and files were stored in default root directories in c:\Lotus\Domino… etc. On his server kSpam started to work. So my question again is: Could not it be so, that dll file is somehow tied up to c: disk or default directory (-ies)? All other settings are the same.

                Q2:

Can good mail and spam database be filled with spam and good mail messages registering it as mail-in database - for example, if user receives mail, which he considers to be spam. In this case he has a possibility to transfer mail to spam@mycompany.com address, which is mail in database of kSpam. Or this should not be done, because, the original sender of first spam letter would be changed to our company's employee. Your comments would be nice to hear.

Thanx again for your answer on both questions.

There are no paths hardcoded in kSpam, everything is done relative to the program and data directories. I don't use partitioned servers; I take it each server has it's own notes.ini?

I have the same mail-in database defined at my company.
