• Draft Entries ?

By Ingo Spichal 2 decades ago

    Hi,

we would like to use the DominoWiki for Documentation. The Wiki will be used in our internal Portal, so every employee get reader access on this database.

The problem is, that sometimes documents are written over time, so we need the possibility to mark several documents as draft to hide them from the normal user.

Is this already possible (maybe I just didn't found the right spot to configure) ? Or will there be a chance to build such a function in the next release ?

Interesting suggestion, and certainly useful for a general-purpose documentation site. Wikis don't really lend themselves to this sort of thing though; after all, the whole point of a wiki page is that it's a work-in-progress.

That said, there's been talk of providing a nice interface to more granular (i.e. page level) security in DominoWiki, so that kind of feature would fit with your requirements – I just wouldn't go so far as to use a proper status workflow. Just that you either lock your page down to certain people, or it's open access (per the overall ACL of course).

May be worth raising a feature request and getting some votes?

        Thank you for your answer.

Yes, we use the DominoWiki in a way, it wasn't designed for. But it's a great database for things like documentation, manuals, etc. and we can use it this way in our WebSphere Portal without the need to implement a nice web frontend (like you would do, when you use Office LiIbrary, etc.).

I will write a feature request.

        Regards
