• Domino/Personal Address Book Import Feature

By Georges Hall 2 decades ago

Having a feature that can import from a Domino or Personal Lotus Notes Address Book would prove useful for those implementing this tool in an existing Domino environment that did not previously have a CRM, but used the standard address book as their contact list.

BTW… Great tool… Would be a wise R&D investment for any organization wishing to move toward a truelly collaborative CRM platform…

Honestly, I was kind of hoping that someone else would help out with creating a NAB/PAB synchronization tool by now. I guess I'll have to do it. But if someone else wants to have a go at it, just shout right out.

Ideally, this would work both ways… import and export to synchronize changes.

The most recently edited document would always "win".

It would establish a persistent relationship between the NAB entry and the Contact doc.

It would be modular to allow for both a batch operation and allow it to be called by the PostSave() event of the Contact document for a single document. (Similar to the way Calendar synchronization is working)

It would require ZERO modifications to the NAB design. That part's not negotiable. VIC simply cannot be allowed to modify anything that locks you out of a Notes upgrade. So it would use existing NAB fields wherever possible.

This isn't nearly what I'm hoping for ultimately, but it's about all I've got time for at the moment. Perhaps some industrious user will look at what I've done with the CratchitIndexLibrary and extend it to form a full-featured synch before I get to it.

The export to NAB is pretty much a necessary thing if we're going to have synching with a Palm or Blackberry.
