• Regarding my feature request

By Scott Anthony 2 decades ago

Regarding my feature request to break out personal days into a separate bank, is this doable? Any time frame? Just curious as to we are holding out rolling this product out due to this limitation.

    Thanks

      Scott,

Thank you for your interest in Vacation Request!

I cannot promise a release date for future versions of Vacation Request.

I am analyzing your request and trying to find the best method to implement it.

      A few questions:

      ————————————————-

1-Are you sure that only one new category is enough? Do I need to allow limits for each LTC?

2-If only one new category is implemented should there be a limit on it as ther is for Annual Leave?

3-Should everyone get the same Personal Days limit?

4-If only one new category is implemented can we say that PER is the only LTC that qualifies?

In the mean time please consider implementing 2.2.6b and setting the PER Leave Type Code to specify that it does not count as Annual Leave. Leave would still need to be approved. Leave taken would still be reported in the various "Leave By" views although a bit more care would need to be taken by approvers to insure compliance.

I would like to combine your request with another I am thinking about and bring them out together.

      Please Reply,

      Bob

        1. Are you sure that only one new category is enough? Do I need to allow limits for each LTC?
        2. It may be beneficial to have multiple pools available. Here are some examples: A company gives employees a certain number of floating holidays which is common. Another company may give 2 paid days for bereavement, etc…

2-If only one new category is implemented should there be a limit on it as there is for Annual Leave?
        3. Yes that's the situation we have as explained a users gets 10 vacation days and 3 personal days. He cannot exceed the 3 personal days. Currently, there is also no pre-calculated way for the end user to see how many personal days he has left prior to making his request.

3-Should everyone get the same Personal Days limit?
        4. In most cases I believe companies do give the same number of personal days a year. In this case yes they do.

4-If only one new category is implemented can we say that PER is the only LTC that qualifies?

Again in this case yes, but as I gave in examples above I could see where multiple pool options ties the LTC's would be beneficial.

          Thanks again

        • Thanks for Your Input

By Bob Brodsky 2 decades ago

          Scott,

Thanks for your continuing interest in Vacation Request!

I really appreciate your input. The challenge here is to make the application even more sophisticated and yet no more difficult to set up and administer AND maintain backward compatibility too. I am thinking that additional options will need to be added to the Annual Leave Allocation form with appropriate defaults that either maintain the current functionality or expand on it. There are situations where companies insist that all paid leave is Personal (even for sickness) and that there is no such thing as vacation except as a description of Personal Time Off…….

We'll probably need some sort of a profile document too for system defaults like what special LTC's (like PER) should have individual limits and the limits. I am sure we can think of more to put on this profile too. These enhancements will take a bit of time.

Coming soon (March2008) is a "c" release to further refine Action Button hide-when formulae; introduce the concept of a Super Admin with Manager rights who can approve any Leave Requests and who will be the only Admin needing delete rights; and check for errors like multiple Leave Requests for the same StartDate. I have this revision ready for testing now.
