• Set portal as desktop & hide replicator & add local databases to the launcher

By Christian Braun 2 decades ago

    Hello Fabian,

first of all, i would like to thank you for your work. It ist really fine. We would like to use it in our enterprise. But there were some questions open.

    • How can we set peanuts portal as desktop (homepage)? I searched the web an found, that there is no simple way. Maybe we create a new bookmark.nsf an deploy this to all users. Has someone another idea?

    • Most users does not need the replicator-buttons and we dont want the users to create local replicas. It would be fine, if this could be suppressed. E.g. by a supplementary role.

    • How can we add local databases to the launcher. What must be set as server-name? I think that this should work. But i did not get it to work under 103. I tried

      Regards

      Hello Christian, Thanks!

      sorry for the long delay…

      1) set peanuts portal as homepage

You can use policies (desktop settings, basic tab). You can copy a link of a database in the "corporate welcome pages database". With a new customized bookmark.nsf you can certainly open the portal. I never tried this… but I think it's possible. I will try to play with that and give you a feedback.

      2) replicator button

I will had a role to hide replicator functions. 1.0.4 comming this month…

      3) Local only db

Put "Local" in the server name if you want to open a database that is only on local computer. I tried with 1.0.3 and this works.

        Hello Fabian,

        thank you for the reply.

        • A role for the replicator would be very nice.

        • I tried it several times again to add a local databases to the launcher. I found that it does work, if the location is "Island". But it does not work if the location is "Office" an the database is local. Notes tries to resolve the server with the name "local". And the error message is: "No route found to server". (That is my translation. Original message is in german.)

We are using Lotus Notes 6.5.5 and 7.0.2 german.

          Regards
