• Custom fields

    Hi all,

Very impressed with the template, it looks great.

I have a client that applies project codes to all emails, and I need to ensure users add codes to all outgoing & new incoming mails. The client have a slightly modified mail template with the project code field included in it and some validation.

My query is: if I need to add a project code field for memo & replies, how would I do this in your template?

I have had limited success with modying the forms6.ntf (raw html) but cannot get data added via the browser to be saved back to the users mail file.

    Will really appreciate your thoughts

    Regards,

    Fletch

Are you trying to add the custom fields to the iNotes DWA portion of the template? If so maybe Vince can chime in here since he has toyed around with this.

Thanks again for making sure "we are here". :-)

      Warm regards,

      • Some more of my ramblings on custom fields...!

By Fletcher Davidson 2 decades ago

        Hi Bruce,

        Thanks for the reply!

Ok here is how I see this… (bit unsure of where I need to make changes…)

I have a project code field on the memo/reply/reply all forms of the "standard" mail template.

This is currently only accessed via the notes client.

Users enter project code data into the field (business rule) & there is validation for this field. (all stock standard notes fare)

What I am looking for is help to replicate this functionality in the iNotes web interface.

So essentially if you can show me how I can add a field that is then rendered in the iNotes web interface & data entered via inotes is saved back to the mailfile

—>The data entered into the field should be both saved (if memo is a draft) or sent along with any mails created.

I have experimented with the forms6.ntf - adding a new html field to the s_MailMemoEdit & s_MailMemoRead subforms. Data entered from the Notes Client side is rendered in inotes BUT if I try to add data from inotes, this is lost.

I thought there might be some sort of xslt, quickplace custom field mapping or some other sort of transform file that inotes uses to only bring the relevant fields back to the users mail file?

Essentially what I am needing is the "normal" domino functionality where a field added to a form is rendered and if the form is submitted from the browser the field+data is posted and saved in a notes document.

Once again, thanks so much for your response! I hope this all makes sense!

        Cheers

        Fletch
