It's quite common for companies to have a open source version of the product alongside a commercial version. It seems like a win-win situation for both. Especially if otherwise the option would be to pay for the product. There are numerous examples of this on the net, the one that I can think of on-the-top-of-my-head is SugarCRM. They've coined the term "commercial open source" which I believe is a kind combination of both worlds.

And of course, you're free to do the same thing yourself. Create a product, put it here for free and have another version with more functionality at a cost.
