Cannot get connections status to update

Details
I cannot get either my greenhouse or my IBM Internal connections status to update. I've tried several variations of the URL.
When I append /connections/profiles, i get a green checkmark, but the status does not update. if I use any other URL (https://w3.ibm.com, for example) i get an X when trying to update.
i am running Notes 8.5.1 FP2 on Fedora 13.
