Unfortunately, there are still quite a few issues with the mobile components that are a part of the extension library due to the fact that this area of the library is somewhat new and under heavy development. I'm sorry you ended up running into some of them! As for the specific issues you are experiencing, we will do our best to look into them. The main goal of the mobile controls is to actually avoid having users need to write their own styles at all (for the most part). Rather, we would like for our controls to provide an easy-to-use framework to help replicate the native experience provided on mobile devices.

I understand this is a bit of a boilerplate answer but we will investigate and hopefully have more information for you soon.
