• Webviews IE only?

By Martijn De Jong 2 decades ago

Tried the template today and accessed it with bot Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla FireFox & Firebird. The webviews look great with IE, but regretfully Mozilla shows an empty screen. Is it a known problem that the template is IE only and are there plans to include Mozilla browsers in a future release?

Yes, the plan is to support other browsers in future releases. To do so, we'll move the xsl transformations to the server and have a java servlet handle the work. I can't make a promise on the exact date but it should be soon since I need this for work as well. I have an application that I want to use the webview code with but we have Macintosh users that cannot do client-side xml/xslt transformations. Hopefully you'll see this within the next month or two.

      • Only IE on Mac is incompatible

By Andrew Tetlaw 2 decades ago

I got excited about cross-browsizing this project until I read your post!

Considering IE5.23 is the latest and last IE for the Mac and is so old AND since Safari is now becoming the deault AND because Moz is available for Mac too…. the case for dropping IE Mac is getting very strong.

Because once you drop IE Mac, then cross-browser client-side javascript XML and XSLT becomes very easy.

I'd find it depressing to have to move transformations to the server just to support a has-been browser…
