• Notes 9 XWork Server

By Robert E McDonald 1 decade ago

I've migrated my 8.5.3 XWork server to Notes 9.  In the absence of decent documentation of what to do with the 8.5.3 extension library, I simply installed the software in place.  The migration went smoothly, but I'm wondering if I should have uninstalled the 8.5.3 extension library, or did Notes 9 simply consume the extension library upon installation?

At this point my XPages application is functioning well.  However, the pages are no longer dynamically resizing to smaller screen sizes.  Also, my view pagers are no longer working.

    Thoughts?

I deleted 8.5.3 and then installed the R9 Extension library.

The only problem I'm having is with the pager not working on categorized views.

      • Categorized Views and Pager issue in Notes Domino 9.0

By Paul Hannan 1 decade ago

The issue you are seeing with pagers and categorized views is due to a bug in the enhanced view navigator in Notes Domino 9.0. The XPages View Navigator was upgraded in 9.0 to a new implementation to address performance issues with heavily populated view categories. This feature went in late in the 9.0 cycle and while the vast majority of use cases work, some bugs have arisen.

This issue "HBJW95PBZ8" was addressed in Interim Fix 1 for IBM Notes & Domino 9.0 (9.0.0.0) - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21636023 - you can take this Interim fix to resolve this.

Though if you want to change the default behaviour of the View navigation in the Notes Domino 9.0 without installing the interim fix you can revert this behaviour by adding\setting "xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext85x" in the server's or application's xsp.properties file. This will return the view navigation back to what it was for XPages in 8.5.x.

In Interim Fix 2 for IBM Notes & Domino 9.0 (9.0.0.0) - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21640580 - we reverted the behaviour altogether of the View Navigation (MDOY97XJ7Y) as subsequent testing uncovered a few other issues associated with the 9.0 View Navigation feature though not has serious as "HBJW95PBZ8". You can still use this new view navigation and take advantage of the performance improvements it provides by setting "xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext90x".

In Notes Domino 9.0.1, we have addressed all of the known issues with the new implementation of the view navigator so you shouldn't see these issues again.

        Hope this helps.

        • ie8 issue

By Robert E McDonald 1 decade ago

          Thank you Paul!

"xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext90x" did not work, but "xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext85x" did work!  Pager is now working on catagorized views! Thanks!

          Two questions:

          1) when is Domino 9.0.1 due to be available?

          2) I have a problem with some users of ie8 users...not all.  The problem I'm having is that some users of ie8 cannot expand categorized views.  The mouse over shows the hand, but clicking on the category does nothing.  Any ideas?

          • you're welcome...

1 answer and a few questions for you...

            1) Soon afaik

            2) Do the few of your IE8 users still have this problem when  xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext85x is set? Is it reproducible on other versions of MSIE? Would you have a sample, or can this be reproduced on all apps?

By Robert E McDonald 1 decade ago

I polled the users who where having a problem with IE8 and everything appears to be working once  xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext85x was set.  Clearing of history and cache cleared the problem for those IE8 users that continued to experience the problem after xsp.domino.view.navigator=ext85x was set.

              Thanks again Paul!
