• ExtLib vs Upgrade Pack release frequencies

By Fero Kossuth 1 decade ago

Is it worth to install UP1? If there is any bugfix or improvement, will be ExtLib released more often than upgrade packs? I think so, but you guys at IBM tell me.

It always sounds better to say to customer's admins "please, install this IBM upgrade" than "hey, copy these files to domino server"... So one should prefer UP1. But ExtLib could be best option if you keep it updated more often. At least once a month. Will you, please?

    • UP1 is supported but the OpenNTF builds are more frequent ...

We released Upgrade Pack 1 for customers that require a fully supported product from IBM.  Also, some customers have policies prohibiting the use of open source projects like OpenNTF.  Upgrade Pack 1 is covered by the standard IBM license.

However, the OpenNTF releases of extlib will continue to be more frequent than upgrade packs.  Also, the OpenNTF releases include more content -- for example, the relational DB support.  The extended content may eventually be rolled into a supported product, but we aren't making any commitments.

      Does that help?

Yes, it helps. I wanted to know that ExtLib will be updated more often.

Thank you and keep up the good work!
