• Setting Series Names for Legend on ClusteredColumns Chart

By Steve Smillie 1 decade ago

I have ClusteredColumns chart with 4 series of data. Chart looks good. I added the legend via your instructions. The Legend is now showing but the text on them is just Series 0, Series 1, ....

How do I give the dataSeries a friendly name for the Legend (in my case the Year 2011, 2012, ....

in the JavaScript code there is some place with a "addSeries()" call. I believe the first parameter of this call is the name of the series, and I think there is no control property for that name yet, so you might need to add such a property yourself.

At the moment I'm quite busy with other stuff so I don't know when I am able to do unpaid work on this control to fix this.

If you need  a quick solution you might need to buy some development hours from us Zwinkern

By the time you replied, I had already made the needed changes to the control.  Perhaps if you stop being so greedy, I wil share the solution with you and others users of the control (or I could handle this your way, you can pay me for it).  The nerve of trying to sell services on a bug in this control.  What would you have charged for this 4 hours and then spend 10 minutes making the change?

        • Steve,no hard feelings,but...

By Julian Buss 1 decade ago

...I just said that at the moment, I have a lot of work to which I am payed for. And my spare time is filled with other projects, too, and beside that I have a life and a family which needs time, too.

I think it's should be perfectly fine when I'd like to choose when I want to spend time on a project which is free to everyone, and which does not generate income for me. Even commercial projects can use this control for free!

So I really do not understand your demand that I should invest my time on this software (which is free of cost for you) just because you posted some request.

And all I said was that if one likes me to work for him, he needs to pay me. Otherwise, it's up to me WHEN I want to invest MY time in such a project.

So it's up to you. If you like to share your fix, post it here. If not, stop insulting the very person that gave you this software for free in the first place.

          • Sorry

Sorry for this getting out of hand.    In my initial post I never asked you to fix anything,  I just asked how I might do friendly legend text.  I really didn't expect you to drop everything and make changes.  Just looking for some advise!  I found the pay me to fix it annoying and I responded too quickly.
