• Testers - What is your current Git Setup?

By Cameron Gregor 1 decade ago

Firstly thank you for offering to be Beta Testers, I hope it ends up as a useful tool (and also hope the Domino Designer team will make it obsolete eventually)

I am just about finished preparing the files for testing, but in order to give full instructions (and to not waste your time) i would like to double check in advance that it should work in your environment.

Could you please tell me your current set up for Git ?

    • What version of Notes are you using?
    • Do you use Binary DXL or not
    • Do you have EGit plugin installed (even if you are not actually using it) ?
    • Are you using a Git Client such as SourceTree or Git GUI ? if so which one
    • If you are using SourceTree, are you using 'Embedded Git' or 'System Git'
    • Are you using Git from the Command line ? if so is it Git Bash? or from within windows cmd.exe?

I think that is all I'll need to know to make sure I have proper instructions for setting it up

By Cameron Gregor 1 decade ago

Cheers for this Martin, it should work fine with Git GUI, and if you are giving sourcetree another go it works with that too.

I will have beta version ready for Monday morning!

I had not yet considered Mac! but looking into it, it should not be a problem at all. Though there may be a few bugs that pop up that I may not have considered..

I was going to try to test on my wife's mac first, but it is only just too old a mac osx version.

I will have beta version ready for Monday morning!

      Hi

      My setup is as follows

      • What version of Notes are you using?
        • 9.0
      • Do you use Binary DXL or not
        • Yes, I do - I understood that was required...
      • Do you have EGit plugin installed (even if you are not actually using it) ?
        • Not any more (I did back in 8.5.x) - not installed
      • Are you using a Git Client such as SourceTree or Git GUI ? if so which one
        • Yes, SourceTree for Mac (always on latest version)
      • If you are using SourceTree, are you using 'Embedded Git' or 'System Git'
      • Are you using Git from the Command line ? if so is it Git Bash? or from within windows cmd.exe?
        • Never used it from the command line....  ;-)

... really looking forward to progress on this - there is a definite requirement for something like this. Keep up the good work!!

      • Thanks John

By Cameron Gregor 1 decade ago

Thanks for the message John, I am planning on doing some work on Dora at the end of the month. There are a some bugs to do with installation and also there is a problem when resolving merge conflicts or filtering blank files. And another bug which renders some files hard to delete....

I don't have a Mac to test on so it would be great to have more mac testers!

I also plan to do some more videos to explain some of the ins and outs of using it.

Regarding embedded or system git, your would be using embedded git. System git would be if you had downloaded Git first and then sourcetree, and then configured sourcetree to use the existing git installation. It shouldn't make any difference to dora but it helps me to know where the problem might be if you report a bug

Thanks again for the support I am hoping to get these bugs fixed and get version 1.0 out there soon!
