Is it possible to use current actual Extension Library with the new Notes/Domino 9.0 Social Edition Public Beta client and server ?

    • Extension Library is part of 9.0 SE Beta

Extension Library (without ExtlibX functionality)  is part of 9.0 SE Beta

      • since no extlibx, how to add?

Since the V9 beta has the ExtLib but no ExtLibx, how best to add the ExtLibX to a V9 beta server?

      • Does 9 SE include an UpdateSite for the Extlib?

And will XServer and Notes9 coexist?

My understanding was that using an UpdateSites central NSF store was a great way to support OSGi

plugins on Domino. But IBM seems to be sending mixed messages about the proper way to do deployment

and management of the Xtlib code. In the IBM Xpages wiki there are conflicting how-to's about deploying the

Extension Library, so many of us are waiting to see what the story is. How to keep using bundles, plugins

going forward into Notes 9 (not to mention XServer) without having to make administrators and users suffer?

Developer suffering is a given ;>

          Hi,

There are two separate features in an OpenNTF release. Primarily, there is the "com.ibm.xsp.extlib" feature also called "ExtLib" which is the main Extension Library set of plugins. This feature has been consumed back into the Notes/Domino SE product as part of the 9.0 beta release. The other feature is "com.ibm.xsp.extlibx" also called "ExtLibx" which contains experimental features (e.g. Social and RDBMS support) not yet consumed back into the product.

Shortly after 9.0 ships you will be able to download a 9.0.0 version of "ExtLib" from OpenNTF and also a 9.0.0 "ExtLibx". You will be able to install these into Domino and have the OpenNTF "ExtLib" co-exist with the IBM version that is shipping in 9.0. As we are using OSGi, what will happen is that the plugin version of the next 9.0 OpenNTF "ExtLib" will be greater than the version that is shipping in 9.0 SE - hence if you install the OpenNTF "ExtLib" then that later version will get used. If you decide you want to revert, then you can remove the OpenNTF "ExtLib" and automatically revert to using the IBM supported "ExtLib" that ships as part of Domino 9.0 SE. This way you can continue to get the latest fixes from OpenNTF if that is what you want to do and also continue to experiment with the "ExtLibx" feature.

          thanks,
          Padraic
