NEW FEATURE: CODELESS KEYWORD FIELDS WITH DATA DICTIONARY

The new feature in it's alpha form demonstrates the ability to define and dynamically update keyword fields in Notes forms. This feature functions In conjunction with the new QAF Data Dictionary template (supplied). This feature is not designed to be integrated with custom data dictionaries in this version.

Summary

New Keyword Field component allows you to specify a single Keyword Field that draws it's values from the Data Dictionary (computed mode) or presents the user with values as a keyword field (editable mode).

Up to 5 keyword fields that reference the same Data Dictionary key can be chained together to produce a multi-level co-dependant lookup of up to 5 levels.

On saving the Keyword Field document, QAF generates a subform containing the new field(s), ready to be copied to your form. The subform name is "WFFIELDEXPORT for [form name]"

New Workflow setting "Automatically update form fields when Keyword Lookups change". When enabled, QAF creates/ updates existing fields directly in the related form. Workflow settings now has a new field "Form" which needs to be completed for the Automatic Update feature to work.

WARNING: THE AUTOMATIC FORM UPDATE FEATURE IS UNSTABLE IN THIS VERSION AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR EXPERIMENTATION. USAGE OF THIS FEATURE CAN RESULT IN CORRUPTED FORMS.

Known Issues

For multi-level co-dependant keyword fields, the automatically generated subform contains the form fields in the reverse order. When pasted into your Notes form, you should order the fields appropriately.

Automatic Form Update feature is unreliable particularly for complex forms and forms that have been modified in a different version of Notes. Form corruption can result.

For multi-level , multi-value co-dependant keyword fields, the 'Clear Field when value is not in Keyword List (Input Translation)' option does not currently function properely. For example, if you have a two-level keyword lookup where the first level is multi-value, the second keyword field will display the join of keywords based on all select level-1 keywords. When any of the level-1 keywords are removed by the user, the level-2 field should clear only the keywords that are no longer valid, not the entire field. At present, the input translation functions correctly only when the LAST field in a chain is multi-value, and the fields before it are single-value.

NEW DATABASE: QAF DATA DICTIONARY

The QAF Data Dictionary (QDD) provides a means to manage lists of information required for specific application functions. QDD supports up to 10 text fields per Keyword (data key). This database contains two forms:

  1. Data Keyword Definition

Use this form to define the Keyword and describe the purpose of each field that is to be used.

  2. Data Dictionary Keyword

Use this form to create entries based on Data Keyword Definitions.

    MISCELLANEOUS

New QAF Designer Tool "Initialise documents for QAF". Useful for mass-upgrade of existing documents to QAF.
