Hey Folks,
I'm beginning the planning stages for the next release of the Component Library. I'd like to have it out by Lotusphere, so we can give out copies there, but that's a stretch goal. In order to be as responsive as possible I'm soliciting customer feedback about what sort of components they would like to see.
Below is a list of internal components we already have that are candidates for being published and a description of each. If you see any there that strike you as "must have", please let me know (directly or by posting a response). If the very brief descriptions aren't informative enough, let me know and I'll elaborate.
But don't limit yourself to this list. If you would like to see improvements in existing components, or new components, go ahead and post. I can't promise anything, but if you have a great idea I'm sure we can find an internal reason for needing it and develop it!
Regular Expression Processor - This parses input text according to regular expressions
Browser Component - Embedded SWT browser
Calendar Entry Creator - Creates a calendar entry based on an iCalendar record
Chart - Pie Chart
Chooser - This presents a button to the user with configurable combo box. When an item is selected, it broadcasts mashups of properties set on it.
View Util - A utility component to control the visibility of views
Second Life Buddy List (component) - a configurable list of Second Life users
Second Life Buddy List (sidebar) - a list of your Second Life buddies
Second Life Event List (component) - a list of Second Life events
Second Life Event List (sidebar) - a list of Second Life events
Second Life Person Info Card - lists details of a Second Life identity
Second Life Event info card - lists details of a Second Life event
Second Life Lookup - Looks up someone's real name based on their Second Life name or vice versa
Note: there a number of Second Life components there from an internal project. (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/roivw?entry=integrating_second_life_to_the) The project was created to demonstrate how to show integration between Notes 8 and another identity/presence/calendaring system using the mail composite application. (And to serve the cadre of Second Life users in IBM!) Even if you are not an avid Second Life user you might find the approach used by these components useful for integrating in your own 3rd party identity/presence/calendaring systems.
I'll be at Lotusphere with the rest of the ISV Enablement team. Our lab should be on the main floor just to the side of the escalator. Drop by anytime for some face-to-face feedback!
Cheers,
Jo
