Using the tag inside a table stops all table formatting for that row. For example:



|| Blah || Blah blah

| [stuff] | [other stuff]

| blah | blah blah



The middle row will lose its table formatting. In the meantime, I need a table with some bracket characters in some of the cells – is there another way of escaping those?
