• When mail phrase (From, To, CC) contains encoded text (iso-8859-2) it gets garbled

By Josef Prusa 2 decades ago

When then From:, To: or CC: fields contain mail phrases (names) encoded in (e.g. ISO-8859-2) those fields get garbled after spamassassin precesses the massage.

    It looks like this afterwards:

    =?ISO-8859-2?B?Sm9zZWYgUHL5uWE=?=

    Details:

running Domino 7.02 on Linux (SUSE SLES9), Spamassassin through spamc command since serial version does not seems to work at all on Linux.

    • SpamAssassin bug?

By Nick Radov 2 decades ago

Is the bug with SpamAssassin itself, or with the SpamAssassin Integration product hosted here? Try running spamc from the command line with the same message and check the output. If it screws up the encoded text then you should report that as a SpamAssassin bug.

      • I would need a hand with it

Just to very I understand correctly - should I just extract the message source (View/Show/Page Source) to a text file and run it through the spamc command?

Because when I do it this way everything works, at least from command line. No garbled fields etc.. Could it be a java problem? I just don't understand why the Subject is not affected, since it is a part of mail header, too.

        Thanks

        • possibly Java problem

By Nick Radov 2 decades ago

Yes, that is how you should test spamc from the command line. You may be correct that it's a Java problem. If you can e-mail one of the affected documents to me at nradov@axolotl.com I'll try to reproduce the problem. Just copy and paste the document into a new empty database and send that as an attachment.

    • serial mode should work

By Nick Radov 2 decades ago

We don't use Linux here so I can't test it, but serial mode should work on any platform. Are you sure you have it configured correctly? Have you tried running it from the command line?

      • It has problems with usernames

By Josef Prusa 2 decades ago

        Hello,

the serial mode works for message checking but not for learning.

        01.11.2007 10:18:18 Agent printing: SpamAssassin (mail/name.nsf): command = sa-learn –spam –username="CN=Name Lastname/O=company/C=country"

01.11.2007 10:18:21 Agent printing: SpamAssassin (mail/name.nsf): MLNGEXECJAVAPROCESS: java.io.IOException: Peruena roura (SIGPIPE)

        01.11.2007 10:18:21 Agent printing: SpamAssassin (mail/name.nsf):

1.11.2007 11:18:18 Agent printing: SpamAssassin (mail/name.nsf): MLNGEXECJAVAPROCESS: java.io.IOException: nen souborem ani adresem

Please not that I have replaced my name and company details with generic ones.

That java.io.IOExceptions translate as "broken pipe" and "Not a file or directory"

So, I can check e-mails in serial mode but cannot report new spam mails.
