Comment: I agree with Fred. Is the purpose of OpenNTF to operate as a Lotus Developer "community"? I am sure it would be great if we could agree on having ONE official community run by representatives of the community to the community.

Comment: Gregg, it didn't mean to put the burden necessarily on the project owners. Obviously it would be good to get help from the project owners but maybe someone from the OpenNTF Technical Committee could build this if considered important enough from the community.

Comment: I've demoted this idea because I cannot think of any software reseller that does this. Most, if not all, provide you with demo's for you to download and install in your environment. I am trying to understand what would possess OpenNTF to do this, on an all volunteer basis. And that is the other important fact, "all volunteer." I may change my mind, if it can be demonstrated that this will drive more people to use the applications on OpenNTF and that OpenNTF has the financial and human budget to do this.

And the same is true of Keith's idea.

Second, the Alliance members are anyone who signs the Alliance membership document. This is not about projects or anything else. STS could be on that page, as could any other company, just by filling out the form and sending it in (and providing us your logo, company info, and url).

We have Alliance member companies who only become members to show support for OpenNTF.org. They don't contribute code as a company nor provide any money (at ths time). Other companies do it because it is the easiest way to complete the CCLA for them.

I think it depends on how many people uses OpenNTF but not bleedyellow or Greenhouse.

Nevertheless integrating e.g. the Greenhouse ST community into OpenNTF could be as good as integrating an own ST community. The idea is not about creating a ST community; it is about integrating ST into OpenNTF. E.g. the possibility to start a chat by clicking on a person on OpenNTF.

Comment: @1 I'm not a project owner, so I don't see details like that. My view is pretty simple - if it has been made publically available on OpenNTF.org, it should not be a trivial matter to remove it. This would apply to hiding releases that have been marked as inactive.

@3 It doesn't make the requirement redundant, as there is always going to be a need to be able to independently verify the license that a release was made available on.

Comment: If I correctly understand the mission of openntf.org, the audience is supposed to include endusers who want to do the Lotus Notes equivalent of adding a plugin to Firefox.

If I'm correct in that understanding, then find a person who isn't a developer, tell them that there's a plugin on this site that you'd like for them to install, then see if they can find it.

I think it needs to be as easy to find a plugin for Lotus Notes as it is to go to mozilla.com and find a plugin for Firefox.

Perhaps a good start would be to strip down the home page to two links, one link would be "If you are an enduser, start here" and the other would be "If you are a developer or administrator, start here".

BTW, a phrase I've seen a few times is "browse the catalogs", yet the word "catalogs" isn't a link and and doesn't appear as a link elsewhere on the page. That's got to be extremely frustrating for someone not already familiar with the site.

Comment: I Like the ID, but the biggest problem with client based applications is the application design (layout). My tip is to keep it as close to the look and feel of the mailfile. This is what MS is doing as well.

Sometime is see designs wch makes me cry. The function of the application might be ok, but if the design doesn't feel well the user will not use it.
