New Plugin to open Web Links from Notes in External Browsers

Category Eclipse

Chun Yan Zhang has contributed a new plugin to OpenNTF to open web links in Lotus Notes documents in external browsers. As always you can install this plugin via drag and drop from the Apache catalog. You can download the source code here and read the documentation.

By default web links in Notes documents are opened in the embedded browser of Notes if you don't change the web browser preference. However sometimes you'd like to open the web links by the external system browser.

This plugin enables the external system browser to open the web link. In all types of Notes documents users can select the full URL or they can use the live text context menu to initiate this.

Gravatar Image1 - Nice idea!
The extension.xml is still missing. I'm getting this "<error>Error: File Attachment Not Found</error>" error again.

Gravatar Image2 - Aah. Forgot to attach it again.

Gravatar Image3 - { Link }

It has potential Emoticon

Gravatar Image4 - Doesn't work for me, I don't see the context menu (Mac Client 8.5.1 on an incoming HTML email opened as its own tab - not in the preview pane).
The links in the email are no action hotspots, but link hotspots (blue text, underlined).

Gravatar Image5 - Karsten, have you selected 'recognize all content' as described in catalog entry?

Gravatar Image6 - You mean I should have read the documentation?
It's working now. Emoticon

I had thought that you added a context menu action for any link hotspots, but you used LiveText for links that begin with "http". I will write a feature request for such an extension point in the Design Partner forum.

So at least the plugin helps for links that display the full URL in the email instead of a different text.
Any chance to do the same for the other links? Most of the links that I receive in newsletters do not contain the URL in clear text.
