Improved OpenNTF registration system

Posted by Bruce Elgort | October 17, 2006

Thanks to the programming wizardry of Kevin Pettitt the OpenNTF user registration has been improved. Prior to Kevin's changes the registration system would a scheduled agent to process new registrations. Additionally, the views in the address books that needed updating weren't being updated in a timely manner. This prohibited the user from logging into OpenNTF when they received their email notification. It typically took from five to fifteen minutes before a new user could log in.

The new code adds the user immediately to the address book, sends out an email confirmation and performs view updates all at one time. I now estimate that OpenNTF will receive at least five fewer emails a day.

Thanks again Kevin. Now I need to work with the other people who volunteered to assist with site changes.

Any chance the registration template will end up in the code bin?

Thanks

@Ben,

I think this can be done. Let me give it a look this weekend and see what I can package up.

Thanks a lot, Bruce.

I am stuck with the LDD registration template (way too big for my needs) and the R4 registration template in the Sandbox... I'd rather use the OpenNTF one

@Ben,

The template we use is a modified LDD one. Still interested?

Of course. Looks like it's the only complete registration template around. Way too "complete" for my needs, but it's easier to strip down things then to add them.
