linux with f-prot - getting "not set" in the subject

Details
It looks like they retired an older version of f-prot for linux recently; it's still free for non-commercial use but the defs file has not been getting updates for some time.
So recently I noticed I was getting "Not set" in my subject fields rather than "scanned".
Solution is to wget the new package down and unpack it and then install it.
Also the calls to the updater have changed - I had to adjust my cronjob.
And finally, it seems to need no command line parameters anymore.......
So if someone else has been pulling out their hair about this - perhaps this is the solution?
