If I uncheck "Put C&S documents into miniView" then my mail rules stop.

Hi,
I have a number of rules. I was playing with the mail template to get an idea of things when I unchecked the option "Put C&S documents into a special new notices miniView for Processing". This was in the calndar section of preferences. After this uncheck then all my rules on the inbox stopped. Check the box and they start again.
Is this a known feature/issue before I take a look and get lost.
