HELP - How do I put an attachment into a Blog Entry?

I'm suggesting that we use BlogSphere at work and am trying to create a blog to show how it could work.
One of the things we want to do is post a PDF document then discuss it. I can't figure out how to post it. I'm using V3.0.1 B8 but don't know if I'm supposed to put the PDF in Documents or Downloads.
Once I've got the document in there, how do I link to it? What is the URL? I'm guessing it's something to do with the Permalink code?
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW: I've already checked out the wiki but couldn't find anything much there. Is that the main source of documentation and if so, do you need help with the docco? I could post info there as I figure bits out if you like.
