V2.5.6 to V3.0.1B9 upgrade pains

Well, this is more painful that it should be :-P
If you make a new copy of a V2.5.6 blog, then replace the design w/ the 3.0.1B9 template, then open it (it'll prompt you and upgrade), all you get when you bring the blog up in a web browser is a blank page! Yow. That's a pretty severe bug IMHO :-(
After copying docs in these views from the template to the upgraded DB:
Config\LookAndFeel\Templates
HTML\Skins
I at least get some text to show up but there are no graphics whatsoever. There are no columns, there is no header. It's just a plain text blog with a single page.with a list of archives on the bottom.
I tried switching the template from Default to Advanced, but it still looks really plain. The graphics for the del.icio.us, technorati, and digg links are also all missing :-P
Anyone know what other things I missed to get a V2.5.x blog to look right again? V3 should at least have a backwards compatible template :-P
