failure to execv child process, mailscan not loading

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed mailscan and I'm new to this scanner. It looks very promising butI have a problem getting it to load.
I'm running Domino 8.0 on Centos 5.1 Linux (the free version of Red Hat). The virus scanner I'm using is f-prot.
I switched to root to install mailscan, copied the mailscan program and libmailscan.so to the program folder of linux, created the virconf.nsf from the template, added the notes.ini tasks, but when I start the server, mailscan answers "failure to execv child process" and does not load.
The Domino server is running under user notes, the mailscan and libmailscan.soare owned by root (in group root).
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
