Supporting multiple blogs (at one site)?

Question for the group - am I correct in assuming that you need a separate instance of the Blogsphere database for each blog that you want to host? Or have I missed something that allows multiple blogs within a single database?
Use case is where you want to have "blogs.companyname.com" and then have multiple people writing *separate* blogs on different topics. It looks to me like the solution is to have multiple installs of the Blogsphere DB, which is actually okay because you can then easily control editing access. However, search across the DBs then becomes a larger issue. I'm a newbie to Blogsphere, so I don't know if I have missed something.
