Ian,

It is a way to change an ACL (or many ACLs) from the Domino console.

In the early versions (1.x) it just added a name to one ACL as Manager so you could get back manager access if you had lost it.

In 2.0 Nicolas contributed some code to process many ACLs (eg. a whole subdirectory or all on a server) and I added the ability to specify an ACL level other than manager.

The only time it will not process an ACL is if "enforce consistent ACL" is turned on - there is some code to prevent this as it could cause a database not to replicate with others permanently.
