This app's purpose is to prevent HTTP spammers and harvesters to acces your Web Sites.
There are a lot of scripts or Domino apps and modules that prevents spam comments to be published or posted on web blogs. But all I have seen works against comments identifed as spam when posting.
The purpose of this app is to detect if incoming IP Adresses have already be seen and reported as comment spammer or bad harvesters in dnsbl.httpbl.org Black List DNS server (Honey Spot project).
This app doesn't directly restrict incoming IPs to visit your web site, but it returns a black or white response code (regarding to the parameters you have set) that you can use in your existing Notes apps for restricting access to your web pages (for example with an agent or a WebQueryOpen event).
HTTP Rats Trap needs unrestricted acces security right to run on your server (DNS request are made through socks), and needs that you register with www.projecthoneypot.org for an HTTPBL access key. |
