Code / Description
Simply copy any Notes document and paste into this db. Open the doc and you will see a list of the fields, their type and the contents.

Select any two docs in this db and click th Compare 2 Docs button and you will see the contents of both docs side by side.

This has proved useful to me when debugging mail problems, workflow problems etc

Hope you find it useful.

You can automate the steps of copying the document out of the source DB into your viewer. And when you create that as a toolbar button it will be available to every application. I have used that in my document viewer that I am tinkering with to allow editing of fields as well as viewwing them. But what it does is it makes it almost seamless then and is alost as easy to use as the build in property dialog box.

MayFlower Software has a shareware (free) document viewer -- available from http://www.maysoft.com/web3.nsf/page/products-document_viewer-overview -- that looks VERY similar indeed to the OpenNTF document viewer. It's subject to a shareware agreement.
Is there any relationship (shared heritage, or other) at all between MayFlower's and OpenNTF's application? Are there any licensing/agreement implications due to the closeness of these two apps?

There is no connection between the two....mine was developed over a period of time and theirs came along when mine was about finished....I have seen theirs and once emailed their developer about a problem where an extra line gets inserted when dealing with rich text fields.....I hadn't solved the problem and neither had they......I never heard back from them.
They do look similar but there is nothing other than coincidence in that.....in looking back I would probably build it much the same....I prefer all the information in one place where I can see it easily.....tabbed interfaces are good for somethings but not all.
There are a few applications around that do this but most of the others I found less than intuitive. Bottom line is that I built it for myself therefore it had to be simple and effective. I seem to end up doing a lot of upgrade work to applications and it has proved invaluable for comparing what's going on in the fields and what values are stored without having to use the annoying document properties box..
Posted by Tony Austin on 06/30/2005 07:21:01 PMI agree that it's very useful and would like to add to it
Patrick, thanks for that clarification.
I do development work in bursts, and recently have found your Document Contents Viewer EXTREMELY HANDY.
Further, I have a few ideas for some enhancements, and would like to discuss with you how best I (or we) can go about it. If you're interested, please contact me again (maybe via e-mail at asiapac.com.au (or notestracker.com), there's an e-mail link atop the home page.
